Contour Music Festival – Jackson Hole
If you like a good mix of chill beats, worldly voices and psychedelic techno this music festival is for you. Held in Jackson for the first time, Contour Music Festival showcased well known artists like; Charles Bradley, Emancipator, Thievery Corporation, Polish Ambassador and Deltron 3030… just to name a few.
There is something to be said about music under the mountains, outside, sunshine and all. Music and open air fills the soul with a sense of freedom and happiness. The energy at Contour was just that, everyone was simply happy to be swaying to the music, laughing with friends and family under some alpine sunshine.
“I wish this happened every weekend.” A local girl in her twenty’s says this with a smile, it was a good break for locals let out their inner hippie and just let loose. However, there were many visitors from all across the states, admitting that worst part was not having enough time to enjoy more of Jackson.
The people and the energy of the artists is what made this festival awesome. There was a healthy mixture of hula hoopers, jugglers, yogis, pro skiers, puppies, excited kids with water guns, adorable babies and just plain hippies waiting to hear some of their favorite bands.
Of course the people were not the only exciting things, great local food vendors came to feed some hungry festival goers. Some of the favorites were Pulled Pork sandwiches, pizza by the slice from Pinky G’s, the famous mac & cheese from Cafe Genevieve, and good ol’ guacamole and chips from Pica’s. Oh yes and let’s not forget good beer and cocktails by Deschutes Brewery and the Pink Garter.
Accomplished painter, Ashley Montague was visiting from Portland, Oregon and painted a spectacular dream-like mural at the festival. It was very interesting to see the piece develop and his progress throughout the event. His work is displayed all around the world and can be found here.
Its events like these that can make your trip enriching. So when you are planning your next trip to Jackson, be sure to look for great music events like this to spice up your vacation just a little more.
