EATS

Aurora

There’s a new shining star at the summit of Snow King Mountain: the brand-new Aurora restaurant (photographed below). It’s up here where you’ll experience fine dining in this tri-level building, with the best views of the sprawling town of Jackson and the Tetons.

The restaurant’s rooftop deck is a delightful bonus and the perfect venue to eat small bites and enjoy cocktails (reservations are not required). The patio features an expanded indoor and outdoor dining space with panoramic views.

Aurora’s menu emphasizes locally-sourced ingredients and a refined wine and cocktail list. Before or after dinner, you can explore the universe at Snow King’s Observatory and Planetarium, the only mountaintop planetarium in the United States.

Reservations for Aurora are available on the Resy app.  Dinner service with a reservation includes a free gondola ride; walk-up and bar service require a gondola ticket.  Please check Resy to confirm availability.

Saffron Indian Restaurant

You can now experience the flavors of India in Jackson Hole. Saffron Indian Restaurant, at 225 No. Cache, opened at the end of May. It is  Jackson’s first “saffron-inspired” restaurant. The menu includes both traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine, such as dumplings, curry dishes, Tandoori breads and Biryani and vegetable entrees. The owners and staff are all from Nepal or India, and are bringing not only delicious food to Jackson, but culture as well. Call 307-264-1001 or visit saffronindianrestaurantjackson.com for more information.

Melvin Dojo

The recently opened Melvin Dojo, on Town Square below Roadhouse Pub and Brewhouse, bills itself as a late-night “dive bar” and restaurant offering a blend of Asian and American street food, along with its infamous craft beer.

Melvin and Roadhouse are under the umbrella of Pure Madness Brewery Group, which aims to harmonize their brands. Melvin Brewing’s “mothership” is in Alpine (a mere 45-minute drive south from Jackson), but its roots emanated from Jackson in the late, great Thai Me Up restaurant. And now it’s back with a lively atmosphere, music and is open late. Happy Hour runs from 8 to 10 p.m. nightly with $2 off all drafts and cans. A late-night menu drops at 10. Melvin Dojo’s hours are Sunday through Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Bunker JH
Located below Pinky G’s Pizzeria in the Pink Garter Plaza, Bunker JH is a sophisticated sports bar with an active twist: it’s an intimate space where refined cocktails meet recreational entertainment, complete with two PGA-endorsed golf and multi-sports simulators, pub food and pizza from Pinky’s, a private suite, and a premium bar. There are golf-themed cocktails such as The Green Jacket and The Mulligan and a selection of beer on tap. Bunker JH is currently open from 4 to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. To book a tee time, visit bunkerjh.com, or call 307-201-1072.

Haagen-Dazs on Town Square, a local and tourist favorite, recently remodeled its store, making the creamy sweets and treats all the tastier!

Tram Dock

Walk through the doors of one of the original tram cars into one of the best après scenes in Teton Village. Located at the base of the aerial tram in the heart of Teton Village, Tram Dock — which debuted this past ski season — not only serves a great menu of food and drinks but also has a connection to Jackson Hole’s culture, both past and present. There is outdoor seating, too, on a comfortable patio with music and drinks at the four-sided bar and a menu fit to satisfy every appetite, including a kids’ menu.
