JH Nordic to Host Free Ski, Bike, Snowshoe Day

Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance is the go-to source for all things winter recreation-wise and its annual event allows visitors to get a taste of its amazing-ness!

The 6th Annual JH Nordic Free Ski, Fat Bike and Snowshoe Day will occur on Sunday, January 7 at Turpin Meadow Ranch in Moran (WY) from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free, fun community day held within the Bridger-Teton National Forest will feature numerous activities while enjoying our area’s winter trails. For visitors to Jackson Hole, this event is the ideal way to be introduced to all things Nordic out here in the Tetons and spend a day frolicking and adventuring in the snow off the slopes.

The following will be available on the day:
• Skate and classic cross-country demo gear
• Fat bike demos
• Trail pass
• Nordic ski lessons
• Backcountry Nordic ski and snowshoe tours
• Kids Corral for children ages 2 to 5 years old
• Family-friendly fun
• Bridger-Teton National Forest wildlife and wilderness information
• Lunch, snacks, hot and cold drinks

JH Nordic Alliance is a nonprofit and a raffle will be held to benefit the organization. Other local nonprofits will also be on hand, such as Teton Adaptive Sports, Friends of Bridger-Teton, PAWS, Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, Teton Science School Wildlife Expeditions, Teton County Parks & Recreation, Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club Masters, Teton County Weed & Pest, and more.

If you’ve traveled with your gear, please bring it, of course. If you haven’t, fear not! The following stores offer Nordic ski, snowshoe and fat bike rentals: JD High Country Outfitters, Skinny Skis, Teton Mountaineering, Teton Pines Nordic Center, REI Co-Op, Dornan’s Trading Post, JH Sports and Teton Backcountry Rentals. And the Turpin Meadow Ranch itself accommodates those who need to rent equipment.

Carpooling to the event is encouraged. Try JH Nordic Skier’s Facebook group and coordinate with others who plan to attend. Teton Science Schools will also provide two vans, seating 10 people each. Nordic skis/poles are welcome, however, fat bikes and dogs are not; sorry! The vans will leave the Home Ranch off Town Square at 9 a.m. and leave Turpin Meadows at 2:45 p.m. To reserve your spot, email info@jhnordic.com.

This special day is hands-down one you should put into your vacation itinerary. Whether you can attend or not, you should learn more information about the Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance at jhnordic.com.
