JH Nordic is a Vital Resource for Visitors
by Kate Ready
JH Nordic is one of our favorite tools for year-round recreating information.
Deciding where to recreate in the Hole can be overwhelming. We’re not complaining — we love the options! But it can be daunting for those trying to plan a trip.
So we’d like to introduce you to one of our favorite tools: JH Nordic. Think of it as your personal tour guide to plan your hikes, organize your rentals and guided adventures, and even get weekly newsletters with the best that Jackson Hole has to offer. Hear that? A stress-free visit in the Tetons awaits.
Plan your hikes
JH Nordic condenses what would be more than 20 open internet tabs into one place, allowing you to conveniently explore hiking, biking and even snowshoe trails. Consider it your one-stop shop for planning all four seasons of activities in one place.
You’ll find more than 90 trails throughout the valley, encompassing Jackson Hole, Teton Valley and Grand Teton National Park. And don’t forget to check their definitive list of Top Jackson Hole and Teton Valley Hiking Trails.
The website features GPS trail maps as well as current updates on grooming and snow conditions for all the latest safety guidelines before you go.
Search by difficulty level to tailor your trail run, hike or snowshoeing to your fitness level. You can also tailor it to whether you’re looking for a loop or an out and back.
Traveling with Fido? JH Nordic will tell you whether dogs are allowed.
If you’re trying to save some money, you can also search by what areas are free or if you’re looking to get out into the backcountry, like the Gros Ventre, you can narrow your search to specific locations like Grand Teton National Park or Togwotee Pass.
Their site features GPS trail maps as well as current updates on grooming and snow conditions for all the latest safety guidelines before you go.
Another bonus is the ability to get tapped in with their newsletter or browse their latest Blog Heading into Fall with great ideas and planning for those hikes before the snow flies, ski season is right around the corner!
Rentals and guided tours
Looking for rentals? JH Nordic has you covered.
The resources page has rentals galore for bikes, skis, snowshoes — basically any gear you’ll need to get after it.
You’ll also find tons of recommendations for guided tours, whether it’s hiking, biking or wildlife spotting.
Hole Hiking is one of our favorites for guided nature excursions. It offers customized hiking or backpacking tours in Grand Teton or Yellowstone national parks, or snowshoeing and cross-country skiing for snow adventurers.
Get after it like a local.
Friends of Pathways is the go-to resource for all things biking in Jackson Hole. Sign up for alerts and ongoing education to make the most of more than 42 miles of pathways here. There’s a reason JH Nordic agrees with us that they’re the best advocate for all things biking. Cycle like a local.
EcoTours is the way to go if you’re looking for wildlife. Explore the local hot spots on and off the beaten path while sharing the day with a fun and knowledgeable naturalist guide. You’ll create a lasting connection to this land and the special creatures that inhabit it.
Local knowledge and resources
To discover what local community events are going on so you can elevate your connection to the place we call home, be sure to check out JH Nordic’s “Events” page.
The event page is updated regularly to include fun festivities such as the Wydaho Film Festival, races, ski gear swaps and nordic ski clinics. You’ll also find blogs written by local experts educating on flora, fauna and familiar animal faces you may spot while you’re out on the trails.
And of course, the essentials like trail maps, biking maps, weather and avalanche reports and all of your trip planning resources are also found on this all-in-one website.
