Jackson Hole Earns National Kid-Friendly Kudos

Kid-Friendly Jackson Hole just earned some raves as a highly rated family vacation spot.

Jackson Hole is a favorite family destination—and that’s not just our humble, slightly biased opinion. In fact, Travelocity just named Jackson Hole a Top 10 Family Destination for 2019.

Here, in part, is what the online travel agency had to say about bringing the kids out to the Tetons:

“Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is great for family vacations in the winter or the summer. Go skiing. Or hiking. Or whitewater rafting. Head out on a wildlife safari in search of moose, bighorn sheep, deer, bears, eagles, bison, and lots more. Explore downtown Jackson with its perfect town square and elk antler arches, then head up to the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort to explore, or go even further by taking the Aerial Tram to the summit.”

Just as an FYI, in the summer the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is also home to the Grand Teton Music Festival and it presents free family concerts weekly in Walk Festival Hall and Teton County Library, as well as a “Movies on the Mountain” series every Monday evening featuring classic family favorites, also free of charge.

Travelocity isn’t the only national entity giving out the kid-friendly kudos to Jackson as a travel destination. U.S. News&World Report also deemed Yellowstone National Park—right in Jackson Hole’s backyard—as the country’s No. 2 Best Family Vacation Spot. And not for nothing, but basically most anybody who visits Yellowstone also spends a few days in the Hole. Actually, the majority of visitors to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks use Jackson Hole as their “home base” for making day trips out to the parks.

Rounding out the shout-outs to families considering a vacation out here is the “Today Show” which recently ranked Jackson Hole as the No. 3 spot in the world of “40 great places to take your kids before they’re grown.” Not too shabby.

Personal note: My family started coming out to Jackson Hole when my younger two (now 22 and 25) were just babes in arms. Both learned to ski at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and both attended summer camp out here, too, from ages 11 to 16. The family vacations to Jackson were always, hand down, our favorites. And the Tetons really get into one’s blood, so much so that I moved out here in 2014 and my daughter started calling the Hole her home in the autumn of 2018. One never knows how choosing Jackson as a family trip destination will pan out.
